The Binghamton Snocats were born of desperation. In winter of 2007, four powder-hungry, car-less freshmen were looking for a cheap, easy way to get to Greek Peak in Cortland (the hill behind Newing just wasn't cutting it). Unfortunately, there wasn't one. As such, they had no choice but to pay the infamous Binghamton taxi driver known as 'Naz' a crippling $150 to take them to the mountain, only to then buy full-priced lift tickets at $50 each. It was an expensive day of average skiing, and their thirst for the big-mountain experience was left unsatiated. Tears were shed, and darkness fell upon the founders. From that despair, the Snocats were born.

In February of 2008, the SnoCats were officially formed with three goals in mind: 1) Provide BU students access to great mountains on the cheap, 2) provide a portal for the never-evers to experience the sport for the first time, and 3) to provide an awesome social experience for the skiers and riders at BU to come together as a community. We ran our first sold-out bus trip to Gore mountain in March of 2008. 4 inches of fresh powder coated the existing base layer prior to our arrival that morning, and the bluebird sky lit up the snow all day long – it was an excellent foreshadowing of things to come.

In the years since, the Snocats have gone riding just about every other weekend each winter season to favorites like Okemo, Killington, Mt. Snow, Gore, and Greek Peak. We've also hosted extended overnight trips to Sugarbush, Okemo, and Killington, where the good times flow off the slopes and into the night. The people who have gone on our trips come back for more - we're 500 members strong for a reason. The Snocats is the largest single club at BU, full of park rats, kamakazi thrill-seekers, n00bs, and ex-athletes (along with, believe it or not, LADIES).

Since day one, the SnoCats Eboard has been rooted in one very simple philosophy: do it for the people. We care about the little things that make a trip great because when the riders are happy, we've done our jobs right. By providing energy bars and movies on the bus, giving out bandanas so fellow Snocats pop out on the mountain, and getting as much sweet Snocats Swagg out as we can, a meaningful relationship is formed with each person who goes on a trip. You're guaranteed a better day when you hit the mountains with us than on your own.

We've become known as one of the most fun, laid-back groups on campus, and are always looking for more folks to ski and ride with us. Everyone should be able to get out on the slopes, and love the snow as much as we do. Everyone should pray for snow.

See you bitches out there.
